Giant Posy Block Launch

I accomplished something that I didn’t think I’d be able to do. I wrote my first pattern. Is this the first time I’ve made my own pattern, no, but the first time I’ve have sat down and tried to write something someone else could follow. Well that is first you don’t count my pipecleaner daisy project I did in 5th grade where the entire point was to try and write detailed enough instructions anyone could do it, but I digress.

The Giant Posy Block, I hope is the first of many pattern’s I’ll be provding to you. I have a lot of work to do, going through my past projects and drawing up patterns and instructions. This is work I look forward to though. Enough about the business side of things though, let’s get to the stiching.

The Giant Posy Block I created because I have a cousin due soon with a little girl. They enjoy simple and nuetral color pallets and are going with a mauve scheme. I love the rose block from the Simply Half Yards book by It’s Sew Emma, however it just wasn’t big enough. I wasn’t looking to create multiple roses just a larger one. So, I set out to do just that, while trying to keep the cutting as simple as possible. When I finished my rose looked more like a general flower, than and in your face rose. The block being 24 1/2″ x 24 1/2″ made the name Giant Posy Block, rather easy to get to.

FUN FACT: Posy is the name of our young heifer dairy cow.

If you’re interested in the Giant Posy Block pattern, please take a look at The Stitchery, my online store. I have a PDF and a printed version available. I know The Stitchery shelves are bare at the moment, but I hope to change that in the coming days.

Until next time, let’s stick a pin in this.
